Another Bike!
While I was in Tahoe, I took this picture. I LOVE how this turned out! It has quickly become one of my favorite pictures!

One of my favorite spots
I have to admit that one of my very favorite places on earth is in Las Vegas. If I am near Vegas at all, I must stop and see the Bellagio gardens. I absolutely love the gardens. But, I love the lobby as well. Dale Chihuly's Fiori di como ceiling is A-MAZ-ING!!! No matter how many times I see it, I find I am always pointing my camera up and shooting. I can never have enough pictures of this one tiny little spot of sin city! I could just lay on my back all day and stare at this ceiling! (Which is probably a good reason I don't have an extravagant ceiling like this!)

Bikes!
OK, One of the subjects I was given was bikes. Well, just having done a triathlon, there were plenty of bikes to take pictures of. Of course, being one of the participants, I had race jitters and things to do. So.. here is what I got for bikes. I know, very similar in composition, but it is what it is. (These are also straight out of the camera, no editing.)
I may redo this one, since I was really just preoccupied with everything. Or, should this fill the bike requirement? Let me know!

OK, so I got a little busy.. BUT....
Wow, I knew that I needed to get going with this, and it has been a year since we were in the process of moving.. BUT.. would you accept my excuse that life has been more than busy? Yeah, I know... pretty lame. I'm sorry.
Anyhow, BIG news! I got a new camera! And, with that camera, I can officially continue with this blog! Wahoo! Well, if anyone is still interested that is.
I have had yet another set back though, which really isn't too much of a setback; yet it is at the same time.
My older cameras lens that I thought would fit on my new camera, doesn't fit. Soooo... the lesson I learned about my camera today is.. EFS lenses don't fit on the D5Markii. Only ES lenses. Good to know NOW.. ugh. No worries.. I'm looking into getting a better lens anyhow, but I am only going to be able to work with a zoom lens in the time being.. which means I have to get really far away to get a close shot. Ha ha.
After I get home from Iron Girl, I will be able to post more on here. But, I think I may be able to knock out one of the suggestions for shooting on here AT Iron Girl! Wahoo!! Stay tuned... things are about to heat up in here, and I'm SOOOOO excited! In the meantime, here is a shot from today's Easter egg hunt...

Dew drops, the weather, and an update...
We have had some crazy (but much needed) weather here in Southern California! The rain is actually something we are in desperate need of, so I am not complaining about the weather. But, as I was doing some dishes and looking out our kitchen window, I saw these amazingly big dew drops on the plant outside. So, when I got a moment, I grabbed my camera and headed outside. Luckily, the rain had stopped for the moment, and I had a perfect opportunity to get these shots. I've never taken dew drop pictures, so this was a first in it's own right. I didn't have them as an assigned subject either, but thought I would put them on here, since I am happy with the way they turned out. I also added them to the list, since I believe they should count, for two reasons. 1.) I've never shot dew drops before. 2.) I don't believe I'm braking any "rules" by adding, since I don't exactly have 365 themes yet, and I came up with it spur of the moment.
So, I guess here is to my first photo post. Enjoy!
Oh, and an update.. we are still pretty much in limbo, so I'm still not sure when I can fully start and jump into this project. I'm chomping at the bit to get started, but I realize that it would be smarter to hold off for a bit until we know EXACTLY what is going on. Hopefully, we will have an answer as to what we are doing and where we are going shortly. Till then, I will be anxiously waiting to dive in!

Moving....
I didn't want this blog to get lost, or to leave people in the dark. So, here is our situation. We are moving. We aren't sure where to yet, we are still looking. But, we do know that we are moving.
I was expecting this when I was thinking up this idea, and so I didn't want to have "too much on my plate" at one time. So, I will begin this project when we are completely moved. I'm very excited about this, and want to put my all into it. But, with a move on top of everything, I just can't put the time that I need into it. So, I am going to be waiting till after the move and the stress of a move is gone.
Perhaps when we know where we will be moving to, I will start, but until then, this is on hold. I hope I'm not disappointing anyone. I really am excited to start! And, I still need ideas! So, let me know if you haven't already. And, if you already have, I can use more, since I haven't even hit over 100 ideas.

And so it begins!
Seeing as though this is my first post, I will do a bit of explaining. I was perusing through some friends pictures on Facebook. I have no idea how I came upon this crazy idea, but I did.
I'm into photography, and have felt I can always do better. Though people have always told me how pleased they are with the pictures I take, I still feel that I can do better. Just the perfectionist in me, I guess. Or is it?
Perhaps my idea is a shoot off of the "Julie and Julia" idea. A year of cooking. Only, I'm not taking up cooking, and I'm not trying to follow any one photographers footsteps. Instead, I'm going to do something similar, but completely different. (However, I did sort of get the idea from a Facebook group. But, again, it's different.)
I would like to master the ways of the camera. And, I feel that by doing so, I need a challenge. So, I asked people for ideas. They had no idea why I was asking for them to just give me things off the top of their heads, they just gave me the subjects. Each day, I will be attempting to the best of my ability to shoot one of the subjects that they gave me. To make things a tad bit easier, I'm not going to stick to the order in which they were given. (I know some may consider that cheating, but they aren't me, are they?) I also would like to use as little post editing as possible. Shooting digital is helpful in this matter, seeing as though I get a preview on what I have already taken.
I know that with this experiment/journey, I will be able to experience a wide array of emotions. And, sometimes, I won't always like the outcome. But, that is the point, right? As long as I make some progress, that is all that matters.
So, to recap.. I'm going to be taking themes, and each day will have a theme/subject to shoot. (Though I may not limit myself to just one, if I'm feeling some go hand in hand, or have the opportunity to do more than one, perhaps in different settings, or in the same. Or, if I'm simply up for an extra challenge.)I will post the days events on here, in order to be accountable for what I have done, and to my readers. But, mostly to myself. In addition to all of that, I'm going to limit the amount of post editing. This will help me to learn more about lighting, and how to "get it right" without spending hours making it right. I will post if I have edited it, and will most likely show a pre-edit with the edited photo.
Here's to my crazy journey! Hope you all enjoy! Oh, and if you have a subject that you would like to see done, please comment and let me know, and I will add it to the list. Once the list hits 365, I will no longer take suggestions.
(PS- The journey probably won't be starting till 2010. Perhaps January 1st, but maybe a little after. Our lives are a bit up in the air right now.)
